Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the PhotoZip mobile application (the "App").
1. The Short Version
PhotoZip is a fully on-device photo compressor. We do not operate any servers that receive your photos or personal data. We do not collect analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or behavioral data. We do not sell, share, or transfer data to third parties.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
The following categories of data are never collected, transmitted, or stored outside your device by PhotoZip:
- Your photos, videos, or any compressed output files.
- Photo metadata such as EXIF, GPS location, or timestamps.
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information.
- Device identifiers such as IDFA or IDFV.
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic logs.
- Advertising, marketing, or behavioral profiling data.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
To provide the App's functionality, the following information is stored locally on your device only. It is not transmitted off-device and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear it from Settings:
- Compressed output files — saved to the App's private storage area so you can re-share them later. You can delete them at any time from Settings → Clear compressed files.
- Compression history — a JSON log of batches you have processed (counts, sizes, presets used). No image pixels are included.
- A random device identifier (UUID) — generated on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain. It is used solely to track the 5-per-day free-tier compression quota so that uninstalling and reinstalling the App does not reset the quota. It is not transmitted off the device and is not linked to you personally.
- App preferences — your default preset, format, and onboarding state. Stored in iOS UserDefaults.
4. Photo Library Access
When you tap "Select Photos", iOS prompts you to grant read access to your photo library. When you tap "Save to Photos", iOS prompts you for Add-Only access so the App can write compressed files back to your library. These permissions are scoped by iOS and are revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → PhotoZip.
PhotoZip reads only the specific photos you select and does not scan, enumerate, or upload the rest of your library.
5. In-App Purchases
If you subscribe to PhotoZip Pro or purchase the Lifetime option, the transaction is processed by Apple's StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information. Entitlements are validated on-device via StoreKit 2 and are not transmitted to any server operated by us.
Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Third-Party Services
PhotoZip does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The App's only external dependency is Apple's own frameworks (StoreKit, PhotoKit, ImageIO) that run on your device.
7. Children's Privacy
PhotoZip is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Because we do not collect any data, we cannot and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. International Transfers
Because no data leaves your device, no international transfer of personal data occurs through the App.
9. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / PIPL)
Since we do not collect personal data, there is no data for us to access, rectify, export, or delete on your behalf. Any data stored on your device by the App can be removed at any time by:
- Tapping Settings → Clear compressed files inside the App.
- Uninstalling the App from iOS.
If you believe we have somehow processed personal data about you in a way that violates applicable law, please contact us (details below) and we will investigate promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change whenever we do. Material changes will additionally be announced in the App's release notes.
